Sorry I am getting behind in my posts … not only have the students at the University of Texas been keeping me very busy, but I have also invested a lot more time than I anticipated in my business history lectures. I have to do this work nights and weekends (and Spring Break), which is when I was doing my blog posts.
The next talk, which I hope will be the best one yet, will be Ringing Registers, The Story of American Retailing on Wednesday evening, March 31, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center (MLK at Lavaca in Austin on the UT campus).
As you probably know, retailing is my favorite industry, and I am learning more and more about the great retailers of history and their innovations in preparing for this talk.
There will be a reception – indoor or outdoor depending on weather – at 5:30. I start talking around 6:15. The talk should wrap up by 7:30PM. I am going to try something new this time: I am going to give a repeat of my auto industry talk that same evening at 8PM. So this will be my first double feature! While the talks are (I hope) interesting if viewed online, I think it’s a whole different experience in person. And you can ask me questions or discuss ideas with the group! We should wrap everything up by 9:30.
I hope to see you at the March 31 talk. It’s free and open to the public, so tell (and bring) your friends.
