The University of Texas campus has in recent weeks become a hotbed for learning about the movies.
But even bigger news is the new exhibit on the history of movies and making movies at the Harry Ransom Center, which opened last Friday and runs through July (http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/exhibitions/2010/movies/). The Harry Ransom Center is one of the world’s great “special collections,” containing everything from a Gutenberg Bible to the first photograph ever taken. Their exhibit Making Movies is one of the best shows they have ever mounted, as good as exhibits you might expect in Manhattan or London. Everything from Gone with the Wind to Raging Bull to North by Northwest and beyond, costumes to scripts, editors to cinematographers. I urge you to go see that exhibit if you like movies and pass anywhere near Austin, you will learn a lot and feel like you are in direct touch with the creative process. Any true entrepreneur will learn from it.
