If you have been reading my blog very long, you know how obsessed I am about business history. Among the many reasons for our financial fiascos and short-sighted management is our lack of any real perspective, a lack of a sense of history. We do not learn from the past – the bad things or, more importantly, the good ideas. Most of the important stuff in business (or non profit enterprises) does not change. The big ideas are timeless. At least that’s what I believe.
As far as I can tell, there is no business school in America which requires all students take a business history class. That’s crazy, and harmful to society. So ……
